In just a little over a week, on the 8th of October, Dignity Through Art will be hosting their first ever silent auction at St Mark's English Church in Florence. This is such an exciting time for the charity and hopefully this event will help bring attention to their wonderful cause.
Since the beginning, Dignity Through Art has focused on acknowledging the homeless and needy of Florence as a part of our lives and giving a voice to their own stories. By bringing light to their individual histories, Dignity Through Art has hoped to help the more fortunate recognize these people as equals. Artists are asked to interact with their subjects and to learn about their stories, both past and present.
Going forward, the hope is to expand the project into other areas of the world, outside of Florence, and to extend the categories of subjects to include not just the homeless, but all types of people who are struggling to be recognized. Dignity Through Art is an all inclusive project, that benefits all of those involved through visibility and, hopefully, respect.
In order to move forward, there is a constant search for both artists and subjects. As part of the auction on 8 October, we hope to stir up interest and energy for the project, especially amongst Florence's numerous universities.
We invite you to come to the auction to revisit the beautiful works of art that came from Dignity Through Art's first season and to consider participating in the project's future whether artistically, financially, or otherwise. The auction will begin at 18:30 at St. Mark's English Church (Via Maggio 16, Firenze) and close at 22:00. We are currently working on making the auction available online so that those not in the Florence area will be able to participate so please stay tuned for information regarding that. If you are interested in bidding on works of art online please e-mail dignitythroughart@gmail.com and if we are able to accommodate then we will send you the link ASAP.
In addition to the art there will be music provided by the Music Director and Organist of St. Mark's English Church.
Thank you in advanced to all of those that attend and to all that are helping and/or will help this amazing project grow.
