She impresses me not only because she posed for Maestro Pietro Annigoni, a famous artist who was my Maestro’s Maestro, when she was young, but also that she is well-educated, trustworthy, and graceful, quite the opposite to what a homeless person is in my mind. She dressed up to pose, presenting her best look. Her story makes us sad, but she’s not a sad person. She likes to talk to us and shares her story with a calm voice, neither complaining nor asking for pity. I’m trying to capture her poise and confidence in my drawing.
Life is tough, but she’s tougher!
